Beyond the hectic hustle and bustle of the ‘Big City’, on the Western edge of Lower Saxony, barely 20 kilometres from the Dutch border, is the old fortress town of Meppen, the historical roots of which go back more than 1200 years. Visitors can get to us via the A31 or the B70 and B402/E233.
Since 1977, Meppen has been the principal town of the administrative district of Emsland, the second largest district in Germany.
This constantly growing, lively town, with currently 35,000 inhabitants and numerous public authorities, provides an extensive range of educational, cultural, and sporting possibilities.
